My Mom Deserves Her Flowers before it’s too late
My mother is the strongest woman I know. A single mom of 9, she dedicated her entire life to giving us everything we needed, even when she had almost nothing for herself. She’s spent over 40 years as an educator and daycare provider—nurturing, teaching, and loving other people’s children as deeply as her own. Her passion for kids is unmatched. She truly lived her purpose.
But life hasn’t been kind in return.
Around age 63, her health began to decline, and she applied for disability—only to be denied. So she kept working, day after day, pushing through the pain and exhaustion because she had no other choice. Last year, her body finally gave out, and she was forced to retire—not because she was ready, but because her health left her no other option.
Just this April, less than a year into retirement, my mom suffered a major stroke that left her paralyzed on her left side. She now needs daily assistance. We tried again to apply for disability, and were told she no longer qualifies—because she is now over 65. After years of giving everything, she’s being told she’s “too late” for help.
Her small retirement income doesn’t cover her basic needs, and yet she never complains. She still finds purpose, hope, and strength in her words—and that’s why I’m here asking you to support her.
She recently published a children’s book, inspired by her own childhood. Buying her book is more than just a purchase—it’s a way to honor her life, her love for kids, and her unwavering sacrifice.
Please consider buying her book, sharing this post, or simply keeping her in your thoughts. She deserves her flowers now—not when it’s too late. My mom’s story is not just about struggle—it’s about love, resilience, and the belief that we can still make a difference in someone’s life, even now.
Her job on this earth was never meant to be working herself to death. It was to inspire, to care, and to leave a legacy—and she has. Now it’s time we show up for her.
My mother's story reflects the struggles many face as they age and navigate health challenges. It's essential to recognize the contributions of caregivers like her who dedicate their lives to others, often at the expense of their own well-being. Sharing her journey not only raises awareness about the challenges elderly individuals encounter when seeking assistance but also underscores the importance of community support. Our society often overlooks the tireless efforts of parents, especially single mothers who sacrifice so much for their children’s futures. Her experience with applying for disability at an age when most individuals expect to enjoy retirement highlights systemic issues that need addressing. The denial of support due to her age is a stark reminder that more needs to be done to help those who have devoted their lives to service. We encourage readers to acknowledge and celebrate the vital roles caregivers play in shaping lives. By purchasing her children's book, you help honor her legacy, which extends beyond mere financial aid. This story aims not only to provide entertainment for young readers but also to instill values of love and resilience. Let's lift her spirit and show that it’s never too late to make meaningful gestures of appreciation for those we love.
