Small Town Life (1)
When you grow up in a small town, it’s easy to overlook the simple things.
This year I’m focusing more on me and enjoying all that my city has to offer. I’m going to have Sonia Saturdays or Sonia Spring Summer Sundays!
My mission is to fall in love with my city, just like when I was a kid.
What are some of your favorite things to do where you live?
I’ll share clips/vlogs along the way.

It's so easy to overlook the simple, beautiful things right in front of us, especially when we grow up in a small town. We often dream of big city lights or exotic travels, forgetting the unique charm and comfort our own community offers. But what if we shifted our perspective and actively sought to rediscover the magic of small-town living? One of the best parts about a small village community is the inherent sense of belonging. Unlike bustling metropolises, small towns often foster closer connections. People tend to know their neighbors, local shop owners, and even the mayor! This can lead to a richer, more supportive environment where everyone feels like they're part of something special. So, what do you need in a town to truly thrive? Beyond essential amenities, it's about the feeling of community, the access to nature, and the unique local spots that give it character. For anyone looking to infuse more joy into their local experience, a great starting point is to explore your town as if you're a tourist. Visit local museums, art installations like Ix Art Park, or even a quirky coffee shop you've always passed by. Seek out community events—farmers' markets, local festivals, or outdoor concerts are fantastic ways to find things you need in a town to make it feel vibrant. These are perfect opportunities to connect with local artisans, taste regional foods, and simply enjoy the collective spirit that makes a small town unique. Every 'day in the life' can become an adventure if you look for it! Building on this, consider what makes a small modern town special. It's often a blend of tradition and innovation. You might find historic downtown areas alongside contemporary art spaces or farm-to-table restaurants. Don't be afraid to try new places or revisit old favorites with fresh eyes. Is there a local park you haven't walked in years? A library with a new exhibit? These simple explorations are often the most rewarding. Engaging with these local facets helps you appreciate the nuanced layers of your home. Ultimately, falling in love with your city or town again is a personal journey, but it’s one that enriches your life significantly. It’s about being present, appreciating the slower pace, and actively participating in the community. What have you found are your favorite ways to enjoy your own small town living experience? I'm always looking for new ideas to make my 'day in the life' even more vibrant!
