What I’ve done to my car so far ✨
When I first bought my Malibu, I didn’t know what to do to it tbh, but once I started joining Facebook groups of Chevy Malibu’s and made my own “car” Instagram, meeting people with the same car, I knew I wanted to start customizing it, on a budget 🤣. Once I get enough money ima mod the car completely till it’s almost unrecognizable.
Hey everyone! Following up on my journey customizing my Chevy Malibu, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into some of the mods I've explored and give you some tips if you're thinking about personalizing your own ride. Like many of you, I started on a budget, and it's amazing what you can achieve without breaking the bank! Budgeting for Your Custom Malibu Build: One of the first things I learned is that customizing doesn't always mean spending thousands. Start by prioritizing what changes will give you the most visual impact or functional benefit for your money. I found that joining online communities, like the Chevy Malibu Facebook groups, was invaluable for finding deals and DIY tutorials. Saving up for each modification, rather than trying to do everything at once, really helps manage costs. Making Your Wheels Pop (Like My Purple Rims!): My custom purple spray-painted rims really changed the look of my Malibu! Painting your existing wheels is a super budget-friendly way to get a unique aesthetic. You can also explore options like plasti-dip for a temporary, peelable finish, or even powder coating for a more durable, professional look. If you're considering new wheels, keep an eye out for used sets online or during sales events. The key is finding a color or style that truly expresses your personality – I went with purple because I wanted to stand out from all the black rims out there! Window Tint: Style, Privacy & Protection: Adding window tint was one of the first things I did, and it made a huge difference. I went with 15% all around, and it cost me about $300, which even included a lifetime warranty. Beyond the cool factor, tint provides privacy, reduces interior heat, and protects your car's interior from UV rays. Just make sure to check your local laws regarding tint percentages, as they vary widely from state to state to avoid any legal issues. Upgrading Your Lights to LED: Initially, I experimented with spray-tinted headlights and taillights, but I learned that sometimes you need to rethink a mod. I later removed the headlight tint and upgraded to Lasfit LED lights. The difference was night and day compared to the original halogen lights! LEDs offer brighter illumination, a more modern look, and often last much longer. This is a mod that significantly improves both aesthetics and safety. When choosing LEDs, look for reputable brands and ensure they are compatible with your car's electrical system to avoid flickering or error codes. Chrome Delete for a Sleeker Look: If you're aiming for a more aggressive or modern aesthetic, a chrome delete is a fantastic option. My Malibu looked so much sleeker once I started replacing the shiny chrome accents with black forged carbon details. You can achieve this using vinyl wrap, spray paint designed for trim, or even by replacing parts entirely. It's a relatively inexpensive mod that can dramatically change your car's overall appearance. Exploring Body Kits and Wraps (Future Mods!): While I haven't gone full-on with a body kit or a complete car wrap yet, these are definitely on my radar for when I save up more! A body kit can transform the entire silhouette of your Malibu, giving it a sportier or more aggressive stance. Wraps offer an incredible way to change your car's color without a permanent paint job, plus they protect the original paint. These are bigger investments, so research thoroughly, look at different styles, and consider professional installation for the best results. Personal Touches: Decals and More: Don't underestimate the power of small details! Custom decals, like my 'Cleanish Traffic' or '#MALISOCIETY' stickers, are a fun and affordable way to add personality and show off your car's unique identity. They're easy to apply and remove, making them perfect for experimenting with different looks. Remember, customizing your Malibu is a journey, not a destination. Take your time, enjoy the process, and connect with other enthusiasts. Happy modding!
