Field trip Friday!
Gym, Ulta, Riverdale Bike Park, In-n-Out! I love days like this because everyone's cup gets filled!
I got to go workout and go to Ulta with just Huddy while the other babies played at papa Tom's and then we got cousin Addi time and lastly I didn't have to make dinner

Having a 'Field Trip Friday' has become one of my favorite traditions! It's not just about getting out of the house; it's about intentionally creating moments that fill everyone's 'cup,' as I like to say. The idea of a 'Field Trip Friday' really came to life for me when I realized how much I craved a change of pace from our usual routine, and how much my kids thrived on new experiences. It's so easy to get stuck in a rut, but these special Fridays break that cycle beautifully. For us, these Fridays often blend a mix of kid-friendly activities with a little something for me, too. Like our recent adventure that included the gym, a quick stop at Ulta, some outdoor fun at Riverdale Bike Park, and a treat at In-n-Out. The key is balance! I try to pick one or two main activities and then build around them. Sometimes it’s a museum, other times a local park we haven’t visited yet, or even just a library story time followed by a picnic lunch. Planning doesn't have to be rigid – it can be as simple as a quick chat with the kids on Thursday night about what sounds fun for 'Field Trip Friday!' If you're looking to create your own 'Field Trip Friday' tradition, here are a few things I've learned that make it a success. Firstly, don't overschedule. It's a 'field trip,' not a marathon! We aim for 2-3 main stops at most. Secondly, consider everyone's interests. While the kids might love the bike park, I get my 'me time' at Ulta. It's about give and take. Thirdly, pack smart. Snacks, water, and maybe a change of clothes if you're hitting active spots are a must. And don't forget the camera – some of our most cherished 'childhood memories' come from these spontaneous days out. As a #sahmlife mom, these dedicated 'Field Trip Fridays' are a lifesaver. They prevent burnout, introduce new learning opportunities for the kids, and honestly, they're just plain fun for me too. It’s a wonderful way to foster #familytime and make those #summerfridays extra special. The feeling of not having to cook dinner after a day of adventures is just the cherry on top! It truly helps my cup feel full, recharged, and ready for the weekend. Think about what's unique in your area. Is there a local farm, a community pool, a botanical garden, or even just a new playground? Sometimes the best 'field trips' are the simplest ones. It's the shared experience that truly matters. These days create lasting #childhoodmemory moments that we'll all look back on fondly. So, if you're feeling the weekday grind, consider declaring your next Friday a 'Field Trip Friday' – you might be surprised how much joy and connection it brings!
