Reflecting on BODY Image & INNER Beauty
Ever looked in the mirror and wished things looked a bit different? 😫
🙋🏽♀️ I’ve been there—especially post-surgery, watching my body change in ways I didn’t anticipate. What I thought was a little extra weight turned out to be fibroids altering my shape. It was a journey, not just physically but mentally and spiritually.
✨ We often hear that true beauty is more than skin deep, and it’s profoundly true. While it’s essential to care for our bodies—they are temples, after all—it’s even more crucial to nurture our hearts and minds. External changes can challenge our self-image, but they don’t define us.
Every day, I try to pray Psalm 51:10-13 (NIV) over my life, asking God to give me a pure 💗 & renew my spirit. ⤵️
✨ Because sometimes, the real beauty work needs to start from within. This internal strength is what truly radiates outward, no matter the physical changes we face.
🗣️ Remember, sis, you are beautifully and wonderfully made, not for how you look but for who you are in Christ. Let’s embrace our bodies, treat them well, but most importantly, let’s ensure our hearts are full of His grace and truth.

Have you ever looked at your body and said, 'I wished I looked better...'? Trust me, you're not alone. We all, at some point, have probably said 'I wish I look different' or found ourselves comparing ourselves to others. This feeling often stems from our 'body image' – how we perceive, think, and feel about our bodies. It’s not just what we see in the mirror; it’s a whole internal dialogue that can be incredibly powerful, for better or worse. It's easy to get caught up in how our physical features are presented, especially with so many images bombarding us daily. But the true importance of our physical features isn't about fitting into a mold; it's about appreciating the incredible vessel that carries us through life. Our bodies are capable, resilient, and unique. Learning to care for them isn't about chasing an ideal, but about honoring them with healthy choices – nourishment, movement, rest – because they are truly amazing temples. When we talk about the 'beauty of the female body,' it's crucial to remember that beauty comes in countless forms. It's not just about what society often portrays. True beauty radiates from confidence, kindness, strength, and resilience. It's the sparkle in your eyes when you're passionate, the warmth of your smile, and the strength you find when facing challenges. This is where 'inner beauty' truly shines. So, how do we cultivate this inner beauty and shift our focus from constant comparison? It’s an ongoing journey, almost like an 'inner beauty challenge' we undertake every day. Here are a few things that have helped me, and maybe they can help you too: Practice Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself. Would you speak to a friend the way you sometimes speak to yourself about your body? Probably not. Start treating yourself with the same love and understanding. **Focus on What Your Body *Can Do*: Instead of what it looks like, appreciate its functions. It allows you to walk, hug, create, and experience the world. That's powerful! Mindful Consumption: Be aware of the media you consume. Unfollow accounts that make you feel inadequate. Seek out diverse representations of beauty. Connect with Your Core Values: What truly matters to you? When you live in alignment with your values, your inner light naturally shines brighter, and external worries fade. Nurture Your Spirit:** Just as the original post mentioned, nourishing your heart and mind is paramount. For me, this means prayer, reflection, and gratitude. Whatever 'nurturing your spirit' means for you – be it meditation, spending time in nature, or connecting with loved ones – make it a priority. Remember, sis, as the saying goes, 'Embrace Your God-given beauty.' Your worth is not determined by your waistline or what you see in the mirror. It's inherent. It's who you are, from the inside out. Let's redirect our energy from wishing we looked different to celebrating the incredible, unique beauty that already resides within us.
