If you’re STRUGGLING with IDENTITY in CHRIST

Save this for later ⤵️

When you struggle to see yourself as God sees you:

“Lord, help me see myself as you do. Your word declares I am chosen, wonderfully made in my mother’s womb, and adopted into your family. Strengthen me to dismiss self-doubt and seek your truth alone, not the approval of others. Forgive me for sidelining you and guide me back to your vision for me. Help me see the truth in your eyes.” - itstamaragb

To the one that needs it…when you look in the mirror…I pray you see yourself in a way that makes God smile.

... Read moreI remember countless mornings waking up with that familiar knot in my stomach, questioning everything. Who am I really? Am I good enough? It's easy to get caught in that spiral, letting the world define us or struggling to see ourselves as God truly does. This isn't just my story; it's a shared human experience, even for figures in the Bible. We often ask, "What does the Bible say about your identity?" and the answers are profound. The Bible is full of powerful truths about our identity. Beyond the beautiful truth that we are 'chosen' and 'wonderfully made' (Psalm 139:14), scripture reminds us constantly of our value in Christ. For example, Colossians 3:3 says, 'For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.' And yes, Ephesians 2:6, a frequently searched verse, beautifully declares that we are 'seated with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.' This isn't just a future promise; it's our present reality! Ever wondered if biblical figures faced an 'identity crisis in the Bible'? Absolutely! Think of Moses, who felt inadequate to lead and questioned his capabilities (Exodus 3:11). Or Gideon, hiding from his calling and doubting his strength (Judges 6:15). Even Peter, after denying Jesus, must have wrestled with his identity as a follower and friend. Their stories remind us that feeling lost isn't a sign of weakness, but an opportunity to lean deeper into God's truth. Just like the prayer says, why do we 'seek validation in the tongue of men' when God's word has 'countless ways to shut up my negative thoughts' and 'cast out fear'? So, how do we practically live out our identity in Jesus Christ? Beyond repeating powerful prayers like the one in the original post, I've found a few things incredibly helpful. Firstly, immerse yourself in scripture. Start your morning with a 'bible verse for today morning' that affirms your identity. Write down verses like Romans 8:17 ('If we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ') or 2 Corinthians 5:17 ('Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come'). I even created a 'my identity in Christ printable' for my journal to keep these truths front and center. It helps to silence those negative thoughts when old doubts creep in. Secondly, find a community that speaks life into you. Surrounding myself with fellow believers has been crucial. They remind me of who I am when I forget. And finally, keep praying. Keep asking God to help you 'see yourself through your eyes, oh Lord.' It’s a journey, not a destination, but every step taken in His truth makes us more confident as His 'adopted daughter,' 'made new again,' and truly seen. Let these 'inspirational quotes' from the Bible transform your mindset.
