Replying to @Scents By Siana I tried, but I’m a certified yapper (also known as a hairstylist) by trade with a certified yapper junior (my 5 year old) who apparently needs to talk to mom every 5 minutes… I’m gonna go have my 5th cup of tea for the day while I try to read in semi silence that I know my kid is never gonna let me have 😭😭😭
As a hairstylist and a busy mom to a talkative 5-year-old, finding moments of calm can feel impossible. I’ve learned that taking regular tea breaks not only soothes my nerves but also helps rest my voice after a long day of chatting with clients and my little one. Drinking tea with a bit of honey is especially helpful; it soothes the throat and can ease strain caused by talking frequently. One thing I’ve found invaluable is accepting that complete silence is rare when you have a young child needing constant attention. Instead, setting realistic expectations about quiet time helps reduce stress. When reading or working, I try to create small windows of 'semi silence' where I can focus, even if it’s not absolute silence. Voice care is essential in vocally demanding jobs like hairstyling. Beyond tea and honey, staying hydrated throughout the day and avoiding yelling or whispering can protect your vocal cords. It’s also important to listen to your body; if your voice feels tired, taking short breaks can prevent long-term damage. If you’re juggling parenting with a talkative child and a vocal profession, remember you’re not alone. Combining practical voice care with moments of rest—like my fifth cup of tea—can make a big difference in managing your day with a smile.

I was like this for the ENTIRE month of December here in NJ!! Not fun at all!🥰
