... Read moreIf you're anything like me, a McDonald's McGriddle is pure breakfast bliss, but grabbing it from the drive-thru every time can get pricey! That's why I absolutely love making my own copycat version at home. It's surprisingly simple, and honestly, tastes even better because you can customize it exactly how you like. This recipe truly brings that iconic McDonald's breakfast menu item right to your kitchen, especially those amazing maple-flavored pancake buns! The secret ingredient that truly elevates this homemade McGriddle is, without a doubt, those griddled maple-flavored pancake buns. Forget plain pancakes; these are what make the McGriddle so special. When mixing your pancake batter – I personally love using Pearl Milling Company Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix for that classic fluffy texture – don't forget to get creative with the syrup. Instead of just adding it to the batter, I like to drop small dots of Food Lion Original Syrup directly into the batter as it cooks on the mini pancake maker. This creates those signature sweet pockets that burst with maple flavor in every bite. And for an extra layer of warmth and spice, a dash of Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cinnadust Seasoning Blend mixed into the batter or sprinkled on top is a game-changer. If you don't have a specific mini pancake maker (like the one I got from Walmart!), a regular skillet works too – just aim for smaller, uniform pancakes. Now, let's talk about the fillings! For the sausage, while the recipe calls for a general sausage, I've found that using a good quality breakfast sausage like Jimmy Dean Premium Pork Sausage (or its turkey sausage alternative for a lighter option) makes a huge difference. Cook it until it's perfectly browned and savory. For the eggs, a simple fried egg with a sprinkle of Morton Salt and pepper is all you need. Crack your Food Lion 12 Large White Eggs directly into a skillet on low-medium heat for a soft, fluffy texture. And of course, no McGriddle is complete without melted cheese. Food Lion American Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product Singles melt beautifully and give you that creamy, slightly tangy contrast to the sweet and savory elements. The key is to melt the cheese right onto the hot sausage and egg before assembling. Putting it all together is the fun part! Once your pancakes are cooked, and your sausage, egg, and cheese are ready, stack them up. I usually place the sausage and cheese on one pancake, then the egg, and top it with the second pancake bun. A quick 15-30 second pop in the microwave ensures the cheese is perfectly gooey and everything is warm. A final drizzle of Food Lion Original Syrup over the top before you take that first glorious bite just seals the deal. Trust me, once you try making your own McGriddle at home, you'll wonder why you ever waited in line! It's a truly satisfying and delicious way to enjoy a classic McDonald's breakfast anytime you want.
