Pack lunch with me

... Read morePacking school lunches daily can feel overwhelming, especially when you want to prepare meals that are both nutritious and appealing to kids. Over the years, I’ve learned that planning ahead and incorporating variety are key to keeping my girls excited about their lunches. One strategy I often use is to include a mix of protein, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. For example, turkey or cheese sandwiches on whole grain bread paired with crunchy carrot sticks and an apple make a balanced meal. I also like to add little treats like a homemade granola bar or some yogurt to keep things fun. On busy mornings, prepping ingredients the night before saves me lots of time. I chop fruits and veggies and store them in clear containers, ready to grab. Sometimes, I make DIY lunchables with crackers, cheese cubes, and sliced deli meat, which my girls enjoy assembling themselves at school. Another helpful tip is to involve kids in lunch packing. It encourages them to be excited about what they’ll eat and teaches them about healthy choices. Plus, it can be a fun bonding moment before the school day starts. For parents missing their kids on the first day back, packing lunch together offers a sweet, shared routine. It reminds me how important these small moments are as my babies grow more independent but still need that daily touch of love and care.
