With just 7 days left, I find that having a well-established morning routine really helps me feel organized and ready to welcome my students. One of the key parts of my routine is turning on all the classroom technology early, including projectors and computers, so everything runs smoothly when class begins. I also make sure to display the daily slides that outline the schedule and essential announcements, which helps students stay informed and focused. Lighting can drastically change the atmosphere in the room, so turning on warm lighting creates a cozy and inviting environment that helps students feel safe and ready to learn. It’s also the perfect time to update the flip calendar with the current date and any upcoming events, which keeps the classroom visually engaging and helps reinforce time management skills. In addition to the physical setup, I like to prepare positive affirmations and reminders such as “I am intelligent,” “I am focused,” and “I am worthy.” Displaying these messages promotes a growth mindset and encourages students to approach their day with confidence. Reward systems and fun activities, like picking a secret student or scheduling interactive lessons through platforms such as IXL or Waggle Math, add excitement and motivation for the kids. While each teacher’s routine may differ, these small but meaningful steps help ensure a smooth start each day. Embracing a morning ritual focused on both practical preparations and positive energy sets the tone for a successful classroom experience. If you’re gearing up for the new school year, I highly recommend customizing a morning routine that balances technology, organization, and encouragement to create an environment where every student feels ready to thrive.
