Changing “normal rages” for their benefit?

We all know that the American healthcare system is a joke but I never realized how BAD actually is.

A few days ago my aunt told me that her ferritin levels were really low so her doctor recommended Iron IV transfusions and asked me how mine were doing.

(All women in my family have struggled with period problems as endometriosis, adenomyosis and similar so always gotta keep an eye on anemia).

Anyways I was like well I’m not sure I know my routine bloodwork includes hemoglobin but I don’t think I’ve ever asked for that specific test let me check my past test results. Little did I know what I would find!

In 2023 “normal range” lowest was 13!

2025 “normal range” low is 5!!! 5!!!!!!!!! That is CRAZY! My aunts level was 6 here in US that would’ve been normal. The World Health Organization says that levels below 12 basically means total absence of reserves and you are at a super high risk.

Ferritin levels are recommended to be above 30.

Below 30 even within “normal range” is still considered low and experts recommend further investigation. THIS IS INSANE! by the time your results are out of range you are probably too late. #ferritin #iron #irondeficiency #women #WomenHealth
