WHY I DIDN’T POST THESE PICTURES

stepping out of my comfort zone for this one..🙈

when it comes to capturing memories, self image can effect so much. i hate when i take an almost perfect picture and that one little flaw i see ruins my love for the photo. im posting this to show that no one notices your insecurites, you can still love the photo and post it with confidence😚🤍

... Read moreWe've all been there, right? You scroll through your camera roll, find a photo that perfectly captures a moment, but then your eyes zero in on one 'flaw.' For me, it used to be things like my 'rib cage poking out' in a bikini shot, or thinking my 'thighs looked weird' when sitting down, or even feeling like I 'looked "boxy"' in certain outfits. I'd instantly decide not to post it, letting a tiny detail overshadow a beautiful memory. Overcoming this mental hurdle of 'insecurity photography' has been a journey. It’s so easy to get caught up in comparing ourselves to others online, or to strive for an unrealistic ideal. I remember looking at a photo where I felt 'very bloated' and thinking it ruined the whole vibe. But honestly, who else notices these things as much as we do? My friends just saw me having fun, not dissecting my body. One of the biggest shifts for me was realizing that photos are about capturing moments, emotions, and experiences, not just about presenting a 'perfect' image. When you look back at a picture from a spring break or a summer day, will you remember how your body looked, or the joy and laughter you felt? I'm learning to focus on the latter. If you're struggling with similar feelings, here are a few things that have helped me embrace my 'insecurity photos': Shift Your Perspective: Instead of looking for flaws, try to find what you love about the photo. Was your smile genuine? Was the scenery beautiful? Did you share a moment with someone special? Train your eyes to see the positives first. Embrace Authenticity: Our bodies are constantly changing, and that's okay. Sometimes we feel flat, sometimes we feel a little 'bloated,' sometimes our 'rib cage is poking out.' These are just normal parts of being human. Sharing these real moments can actually be incredibly empowering and relatable. Focus on the Memory: Remind yourself why you took the picture. Was it an adventure? A celebration? A simple, happy day? The story behind the photo is often far more important than any perceived physical imperfection. Practice Self-Compassion: Be as kind to yourself as you would be to a friend. You wouldn't point out a friend's 'boxy' appearance or 'weird thighs,' so don't do it to yourself. Every body is unique and beautiful. Curate Your Feed: Follow people who promote body positivity and authenticity. Surrounding yourself with diverse and real images can help normalize what normal bodies look like, reducing the pressure to conform. It's liberating to post a photo and truly love it, not despite your perceived flaws, but because it represents you in that moment. This journey of self-love and body positivity is ongoing, but every photo I choose to share, even the ones I initially hesitated over, is a step towards greater confidence. You deserve to capture and share your beautiful life, exactly as it is. 💖

#unfiltered #lemon8challenge These were some of the best moments behind the scenes! We all overthink, and it’s okay, but sometimes we are our worst critics. We must start learning to loosen up and do things WE genuinely like. 🦋🥰 I am still learning and trying to incorporate this in my life.
