2024 Reading Goals

... Read moreSetting reading goals for the year is one of my favorite ways to kick off January! There's something so motivating about having a clear plan for your literary adventures. For 2024, I've decided to challenge myself to read 12 books, aiming for one a month. It feels ambitious but totally achievable, and it's a great way to ensure I'm making time for a passion I truly love. Why set reading goals? For me, it's about intentionality. Life gets busy, and it's easy to let reading fall by the wayside. By setting a goal, whether it's 12 books, 50 books, or even just 10 pages a day, you're prioritizing your personal growth and relaxation. It helps you discover new authors, dive into different genres, and even learn new perspectives. Plus, there’s a real sense of accomplishment when you tick off a book from your list! When I put together my 'To Be Read' (TBR) pile, I try to mix things up. I definitely gravitate towards exciting genres like dark romance and immersive fantasy, which you can see reflected in my picks for the year. But it’s also fun to throw in a classic, a non-fiction book, or something completely outside my comfort zone. Don't be afraid to explore! Think about what you enjoyed last year, what's trending, or what friends are recommending. Seeing books like 'Priest,' 'Caraval,' 'One Dark Window,' and 'Hooked' pop up on bookstagram always gives me ideas! Tips for Crushing Your 2024 Reading Goals: Make Time: This is crucial. I try to dedicate 30 minutes before bed or during my lunch break. Even small chunks add up! Find what works for your schedule and stick to it. Track Your Progress: I love using apps like Goodreads or even just a simple bullet journal to keep track of what I'm reading and how far along I am. Seeing your progress visually can be incredibly motivating. Join a Community: Being part of a book club, following book accounts on social media like Lemon8, or discussing books with friends can keep you engaged and introduce you to new reads. Plus, talking about books is half the fun! Be Flexible with Your TBR: It's okay if your initial list changes! Sometimes a book just doesn't click, or you find a new release you can't wait to read. Don't feel guilty about swapping books in and out. Don't Force It: If you're really not enjoying a book, it's okay to put it down! Life is too short to read books you dislike. Find something else that sparks your interest. My personal strategy for hitting my 12-book goal is a combination of these tips. I've already lined up some thrilling dark romance and captivating fantasy novels, and I'm really looking forward to diving into them. I plan to keep a small stack of physical books by my bedside and have my e-reader ready for unexpected reading moments throughout the day. I might even try an audiobook for my commutes! What are your reading goals for 2024? I'd love to hear them! Are you aiming for a specific number of books, exploring new genres, or tackling a series? Share your tips and TBRs below!
