Scary encounter by the bridge

#gps #staysafe I was with my partner. We arrived at the bus stop continued walking, following the gps that led us to a bridge, and once we were on the bridge, I notice someone was walking with a great distance, my partner realizes it too. My partner wanted walk faster as she want to reach the destination fast so we indeed proceeded to walk faster. During the walks i realized the guy behind is closing some distance each time I turned back, maybe he's just fast rushing for time right? The moment we reached the stairs leading below the bridge, my partner stopped after a few steps in to do something, I stopped as well and realized he was directly behind us like at a fast speed so I moved aside because who would want to rush down the stairs if he isn't rushing right?.. I stopped and turned to look at him... He completely stopped on the spot despite a gap, and my partner looked at him as well, he was looking up and doesn't proceed down ahead of us.. and we took a good 10-20 seconds before continuing to head down while he was there standing still looking up and that felt like it was forever. The moment we continued down, he started moving again..Once we are below the bridge I turned and kept staring at him while walking after noticing that the guy was looking at us, realizing that he was being watched by me multiple times, my partner noticed how i kept looking back she looked as well and saw he was looking up as if he was lost...(described by her) After looking back and staring at him multiple times, I saw him went into a gap under the bridge like a seperation of walls but still under the bridge with no where to go, no path, no one.. Just rocks, a big space and walls that supported the bridge above... I soon realize how secluded the place is and I hope to share with you all, reminding to check and ensure the path isn't secluded and safe, after all we can't really take risk as if it were a game.

By writing this I'm not saying it's the apps fault, I've also raised it up to them, I only want to share and hope that it doesn't repeat itself for others. As for reference i couldn't find a picture of it so i tried my best with Ai.

The bridge below gives off eerie vibe like the one in my profile picture, both side has fully covered pillars from one staircase to the other staircase with rocks all beside the path barely any light passing through, and on the other side of the pillar it's just bigger spaces with rocks and pillars repeating itself except that there is no staircase just tall bush covering more light. If really interested you can visit it but at your own risk.

... Read moreNavigating unfamiliar routes using GPS can sometimes lead to unexpected and unsettling encounters, as I once experienced near Merdeka Bridge. This incident taught me the importance of trusting not just technology, but also your instincts and surroundings. When following GPS directions, areas like underpasses or secluded bridges can feel isolated and sometimes unsafe, especially when there isn’t much natural light or foot traffic. In my personal experience, I always make sure to check the route visually on a map beforehand to identify any potentially isolated spots. If the path looks too secluded or poorly lit, I try to alter my route or choose more populated alternatives. One key safety tip is to stay aware of your surroundings. If you notice someone following you or acting strangely, maintaining a confident pace while avoiding confrontations can be a smart move. Positioning yourself where there are exit routes or visible bystanders also helps. Sometimes, just turning around and making eye contact can deter unwanted attention, as it signals awareness. If you are using GPS apps that suggest walking routes, it's beneficial to cross-check with local knowledge or reviews about these paths. Some apps allow users to report unsafe or poorly maintained routes, so participating in that community feedback can enhance safety for everyone. Lastly, sharing experiences like these with fellow travelers or in community forums can raise awareness and provide valuable safety tips. Always remember, safety comes first, and it’s okay to prioritize secure and well-traveled paths over convenience. Walking should be a comfortable experience, not a source of fear or unease.
