It truly feels like a special 'event' every time I unbox a new pen, and this time, picking up both a Pilot Kakuno and a Kaweco was a double delight. The Pilot Kakuno, for example, is often hailed as a fantastic starter pen, and for good reason! My Kaweco (and yes, that's what the OCR might pick up if you look closely at some of the branding!) is such a distinct pen. I particularly love the Sport series for its compact, pocket-friendly design. It's robust and feels great in the hand, despite its small size when capped. Uncapped, it transforms into a full-sized pen. The design aesthetics are just chef's kiss – so classic and timeless. While the Pilot Kakuno might be my go-to for extended writing, my Kaweco is perfect for quick notes, sketching, or just throwing into my bag for on-the-go inspiration. The nibs are also wonderfully smooth, and they offer a different writing experience, often with a bit more feedback which some writers absolutely adore. When it comes to choosing inks, it’s another fun part of the 'choice event'! I went for a rich brown and a black-green this time, which are perfect for adding character to my journal entries without being too flashy for professional use.
