Overseas Living: Ep. 3 | Pack With Me Day 1🧳
I officially started going through my clothes to pack the clothes I want to bring, put away my summer clothes, and get rid of any items I have no worn a lot in the last year.
I started by packing my nice pants and tops that are more winter items and my game day fits. As it’s still pretty hot here, I definitely wouldn’t be wearing these items right now.
Next will be my lounge clothes and gym clothes, but those will be last to pack as that’s what I am wearing mostly right now.
As we get closer I will pack up things like shoes, makeup, technology stuff, hair and skincare, nails and any little accessories or personal items I’ll want to bring.
Can’t wait to show you what’s next!

Okay, so you saw my Day 1 packing, but let's dive deeper into making your overseas move as smooth as possible! I know the thought of packing for something like '9 months overseas' can feel totally overwhelming. My biggest revelation? It's all about strategy and being brutal with what you truly *need*. First, beyond just sorting clothes, I highly recommend creating a master checklist. Don't just think categories; think outfits. For example, when I was packing my 'first pants' and those '5 basic tops', I made sure they could mix and match for multiple looks. This massively cuts down on overpacking! And versatile pieces, like a good 'sweater dress' that can be dressed up or down, are absolute gold. Speaking of clothes, consider the climate for your entire stay. Even if it's hot now, if you're staying for long, you'll definitely need those winter items eventually. But instead of bringing your entire wardrobe, think about layers and what you can easily replace or buy cheaply once you're there. Fast fashion is great for a quick fix, but investing in a few good quality, versatile items for your core wardrobe is key. Now, let's talk about the unsung heroes of overseas packing: packing cubes! Seriously, these tiny organizers are a game-changer. They compress clothes, keep things tidy, and make unpacking a breeze. I use different colored ones for different categories – one for tops, one for 'pants', one for essentials. It makes finding things so much easier without having to rummage through your entire suitcase. Beyond clothes, don't forget your carry-on essentials. This is CRUCIAL. My personal rule: anything I absolutely cannot live without for 24-48 hours, or things that are irreplaceable, go in my 'carry on'. Think important documents (passport, visas, flight info, copies!), essential medications, a basic toiletries kit, a change of underwear, and maybe even a versatile outfit like a pair of comfy 'pants' and a top. Electronics (laptop, phone, chargers, power bank) are also a must for your carry-on to prevent damage or loss. For things like shoes, try to stick to 3-4 versatile pairs: comfortable walking shoes, a nicer pair, and maybe sandals/boots depending on your destination and season. Makeup and skincare? I pack travel sizes of my absolute favorites and plan to replenish locally. It’s a great way to discover new brands too! Finally, don't underestimate the power of digital backups. Scan all your important documents – passport, driver's license, insurance, prescriptions – and save them to a secure cloud service. This has saved me so much stress. Good luck with your packing journey – it's a marathon, not a sprint, but so worth it for the adventure ahead!
