... Read moreBaked pasta dishes are one of my favorite go-to meals when I want something comforting but not too complicated. This creamy cheesy baked pasta stands out because of the balance between rich flavors and healthy ingredients. Using ground turkey instead of beef lowers the fat content while still giving a meaty, satisfying texture. I also love adding fresh spinach – it wilts perfectly into the sauce, adding color and a light veggie boost without overpowering the cheesy creaminess. One of the secret stars of this dish is Rao’s pasta sauce. Its robust tomato flavor with subtle herbs really elevates the dish. If you don’t have Rao’s, any high-quality marinara or vodka sauce works well too. Adding heavy whipping cream creates that luscious, bubbly sauce you want in every bite. I usually start with ¾ cup and add a bit more if the sauce feels too thick. For the pasta, penne or ziti are my preferred shapes because they hold the sauce well inside their tubes, making each forkful flavorful. Don't forget to cook the pasta al dente so it finishes perfectly in the oven without becoming mushy. I like to season the ground turkey generously with garlic powder, Lawry’s seasoned salt, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. These spices add layers of flavor and just a hint of heat that cuts through the richness nicely. Baking uncovered until golden and bubbly is the best part – the mozzarella melts into a gooey blanket with slightly crisp edges. For extra texture and browning, I broil it for a couple of minutes on top. This dish is ideal for Valentine's Day or any cozy night in where you want a home-cooked meal that feels special but doesn’t require hours to prepare. Plus, leftovers taste fantastic the next day and reheat well! If you want to customize, try swapping the ground turkey for Italian sausage or adding mushrooms for more umami flavor. Serve with a simple green salad and a glass of red wine for a complete, comforting dinner experience.
