Mediterranean Crescent Taco Ring
Ingredients
For the Filling:
500g ground beef or lamb
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon oregano
½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
½ cup tomato sauce or diced tomatoes
For the Dough and Toppings:
2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
1 cup chopped lettuce
1 cup diced tomatoes
¼ cup sliced black olives
2 tablespoons olive oil (for brushing)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Filling
In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
Add onions and garlic, cook until fragrant.
Add ground meat and cook until browned.
Stir in cumin, paprika, oregano, chili flakes, salt, pepper, and tomato sauce.
Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
2. Shape the Ring
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Line a baking tray with foil or parchment paper.
Arrange crescent rolls in a circular pattern (wide ends toward the center, overlapping slightly to form a ring).
Spoon the meat mixture over the base of the crescent ring.
Sprinkle cheese over the meat.
Fold the pointed ends of the dough over the filling and tuck under to seal.
3. Bake
Brush the top with olive oil.
Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
4. Garnish and Serve
Once baked, fill the center of the ring with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, olives, and extra cheese if desired.
Serve warm with tzatziki, yogurt sauce, or a drizzle of olive oil.
Tip
You can replace the beef with ground chicken or chickpeas for a lighter Mediterranean twist. Add a sprinkle of feta cheese on top before baking for an extra burst of flavor.
