Bucket List Places: Utah - Arches National Park
I’m going to be going through and sharing some of my favorite bucket list places, starting with Utah’s National Parks and doing the first of the five that I visited: Arches National Park!
This park is so incredible with so many beautiful arches and lots of fun hikes, many of which you can see from the road or with just a short walk!
My favorite is the iconic Delicate Arch. It’s not a super long hike to reach but it’s all uphill in the sun! Definitely make sure you bring lots of water and sun protection when visiting

Okay, so after sharing my initial thoughts on Arches National Park, I just had to dive deeper into why this place is an absolute must-visit for anyone exploring the incredible Southern Utah National Parks! When people talk about the 'Mighty 5' in Utah, Arches is always high on the list, and for good reason. It's not just about the arches; it's the whole experience of being surrounded by these ancient, vibrant red rock formations. One area I really want to highlight, especially since it came up in some of my research, is the Windows Section. This part of the park is simply breathtaking and so accessible! I remember seeing Turret Arch and Double Arch there, and honestly, pictures don't do them justice. Walking up to Double Arch, with those two massive, connected spans, made me feel so tiny but in the best way possible. It's a relatively easy walk, making it perfect for families or anyone who wants a big payoff without a huge strenuous hike. From the stunning images I've seen, Balanced Rock is another geological marvel you absolutely shouldn't miss. It's truly mind-boggling how some of these formations defy gravity! I also wanted to share a few more tips that made my trip even better. Beyond just Delicate Arch, which is iconic, exploring the less-trafficked trails can be super rewarding. Early mornings or late afternoons are magical for photography – the way the light hits the sandstone creates these incredible 'geology wallpaper' moments, perfect for capturing those postcard-worthy shots. Seriously, if you're into photography, bring your best gear! I found that wearing layers was key because the desert can get surprisingly chilly even after a hot day. And don't just stick to the main trails; even a short detour can lead to a stunning vista or a quieter spot to just soak it all in. Planning your visit during the shoulder seasons (spring or fall) can also make a huge difference in avoiding crowds. I went in late spring, and while it was warm, it wasn't unbearable. Always check the park's website for trail conditions and any alerts before you go. Trust me, spending a day (or more!) wandering through Arches National Park won't disappoint. It’s an adventure that truly feels out of this world, making you appreciate the sheer artistry of nature.
