Here’s some of my top bucket list hikes in the USA! I’ve got plenty more I could add to this, but these are definitely some of the ones I’m most excited (and nervous) for!
As an avid hiker, I've found that preparing for bucket list hikes like these requires more than just physical training — it's about understanding each trail's unique challenges and the immersive experiences they offer. For instance, Havasu Falls in the Grand Canyon offers stunning waterfalls with vibrant blue-green waters, but accessing it involves a permit and a challenging 24.6-mile round trip with significant elevation gain. Planning ahead for reservation fees and packing sufficient water and emergency supplies is essential. From my experience, Delta Lake via Lupine Meadows in Grand Teton National Park is a shorter but strenuous 7.5-mile hike with a steep ascent. It’s crucial to check snow conditions early in the season, as I once nearly backed out last year due to snow and limited gear. Zion National Park’s Angels Landing Trail is famous for its breathtaking views and nerve-wracking cable sections. If you're more of a beginner, exploring The Narrows first is wise before tackling Angels Landing. The Half Dome hike in Yosemite National Park is a fever dream for many hikers, but it demands respect due to its length and the challenging cable ascent. Securing an early permit and preparing for a full-day hike is key. Lastly, Maple Pass Trail in Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest provides a 6.8-mile loop with diverse scenery but be mindful of seasonal road closures when planning your trip. Each hike offers a rewarding mix of natural beauty and personal challenge. My advice is to thoroughly research each trail’s permit requirements, difficulty, and seasonal considerations, so you're fully prepared to enjoy these unforgettable hiking experiences safely and sustainably.
