From my experience training for this 42-kilometer race in Puerto Rico, consistency and pacing are crucial. I focus on gradually increasing my mileage each week while incorporating rest days to prevent injury. Nutrition also plays a vital role during training. I make sure to hydrate well and fuel my body with a balanced diet rich in carbohydrates, proteins, and healthy fats to sustain my energy levels. Before long runs, I prefer easy-to-digest snacks like bananas and energy gels. Mental toughness is equally important—staying positive and motivated helps me push through fatigue during both training and the race. Visualizing crossing the finish line keeps my spirits high. Running in Puerto Rico offers the added benefit of scenic views and a supportive local running community, enhancing the entire experience. For anyone preparing for their first marathon, I recommend setting small, achievable goals each week and listening to your body to avoid burnout. Most importantly, enjoy the process and celebrate every milestone, because completing a marathon is a remarkable accomplishment!

I am so proud to say I ran my first Half Marathon! I put in a lot of training and hard work. I almost couldn’t run this because 3 weeks before my race I developed a stress injury. I seen doctors, had an mri, went to physical therapy, recovery therapy, and did everything I could to run this race.
