a poem I wrote last year, inspired by the color Ru

A lover's kiss with ruby lips,

a war with the warrior's risk

ruby slippers "there's no place like home"

the apple bite ruins the perfect night

A fight with a fire led tone

wine for the king, how intoxicating

the ruby slippers shine in the light of the crown

the roses painted red for the queen

Isn't it a beautiful thing to see?

the night of the war is ruby red,

the soldiers wish they could rest their heads

Ruby roses dance in the meadow green

the cardinal flies in the starry night

oh what a beautiful sight!

red makes purple and red makes orange

red makes the moon sing to the sun

ruby red, I see it in my dreams

ruby red how beautiful it seems!

It's graceful, it's cold, it's a beautiful tome

red is my love, red is my dreams

red is the nightmare that haunts me at night

isn't it a beautiful sight?

(I'm sorry this poem was so long, it certainly isn't my favorite. I am open to tips and advice of how to improve. Remember to take care of yourself and that your deserve everything good in the world) #poety #poetryfromtheheart #poems

... Read moreRuby red is a color that has inspired poets, artists, and storytellers for centuries. It symbolizes passion, courage, and intensity, often associated with love and sacrifice. The poem provided beautifully captures these complex emotions through delicate imagery such as "a lover's kiss with ruby lips" and "ruby slippers shine in the light of the crown." These references evoke familiar cultural symbols, grounding the abstract concept of the color in tangible experiences and legends. In literature and art, ruby red is often linked to power and desire. For example, the ruby slippers in the poem nod to the iconic symbol from "The Wizard of Oz," which represents the longing for home and security. The poem’s blend of war imagery — "a war with the warrior's risk" and "night of the war is ruby red" — conveys the dual nature of ruby as both beautiful and dangerous. These contrasts make ruby red a compelling color to explore in poetic expression. Additionally, the mingling of natural elements such as "ruby roses dance in the meadow green" and "the cardinal flies in the starry night" highlights how ruby red appears vividly in nature, signifying vitality and life. The poem’s emphasis on red’s transformative power — "red makes purple and red makes orange" — reflects how the color is foundational to a wide spectrum of experience, from creativity to emotional depth. Writers aiming to improve poems inspired by colors like ruby red may consider enhancing sensory details to deepen the reader’s engagement. Using metaphors that connect the color to personal memories or universal themes such as love, struggle, and hope can provide layers of meaning. For example, expanding on what the "night of the war" feels like or how "ruby red" dreams influence the speaker’s emotions could create stronger imagery. Finally, the poem’s closing message about self-care and deserving good is a heartfelt reminder that the beauty of ruby red is also about embracing vulnerability and strength. This encourages readers to appreciate both the aesthetics of the color and its emotional resonance, making the poem relatable and uplifting. Engaging with colors in poetry allows for a rich exploration of human experience, where hues embody feelings and stories that connect us all.
