Spooky season reads 🖤🎃

Book: You Shouldn’t Have Come Here

Author: Jeneva Rose

⭐️Overall rating: 4.5/5

I very much enjoyed this book. I mostly enjoy romance books and since it’s spooky season I’ve been reading more thriller/mystery books this month. I was pleasantly surprised that there is a romance aspect to this book. It’s what kept me interested having that in here and was surprised that there was even a lil spice scene in there.

The plot twist threw me for a WHOLE loop. Was not expecting it at alllll. It was also a lil too detailed in the ending parts of what happened. I have now realized I can’t stomach that type of stuff (keeping a mental note for future books).

But this is the 3rd book I’ve read by Jeneva Rose and she really doesn’t disappoint and the plot twists are always so unexpected. Even when u expect one part of the twist there is another additional twist u didn’t see coming.

Love love loveeeee her 👏🏾👏🏾

... Read moreI'm still reeling from Jeneva Rose's 'You Shouldn't Have Come Here'! As someone who usually sticks to romance, this thriller truly pulled me in with its unique blend of suspense and unexpected elements. If you're wondering what makes this book a standout, let me share a few more thoughts. First off, for those curious about the 'spice level' or romance, you're in for a surprise! While it's primarily a gripping thriller, there's a definite romantic subplot that blossoms throughout the story. It’s not your typical steamy romance novel, but the connection between characters adds a compelling layer to the mystery. And yes, there is indeed a moment that brings a 'spicy scene' into play, which I found to be quite unexpected but surprisingly well-integrated into the plot, adding another dimension to the characters' relationships and choices. It definitely kept things interesting! Jeneva Rose is truly a master of plot twists, and this novel is no exception. Just when you think you've figured it out, she throws another curveball. The ending, in particular, left my jaw on the floor – a complete mind-bender! It's one of those books that you'll be thinking about long after you've turned the last page. The characters, though complex and often morally gray, are incredibly well-developed, making their motivations and struggles feel very real. You'll find yourself questioning everyone and everything, which is exactly what you want in a good psychological thriller. The book's cover, often seen with a distinctive, eerie aesthetic – like the one I've seen with a hand holding the 'You Shouldn't Have Come Here' title against a dark, velvety background – perfectly captures the unsettling mood within. It's no wonder this book has become a New York Times Bestseller; it truly delivers on its promise of suspense. If you enjoyed the intricate plot and psychological depth of 'You Shouldn't Have Come Here' and are looking for 'books like' or 'books similar to' this gem, I highly recommend checking out Jeneva Rose's other works, especially 'The Perfect Marriage' for more domestic suspense. You might also like 'Verity' by Colleen Hoover for its dark romance and psychological twists, or 'The Guest List' by Lucy Fokley for another thriller with unexpected reveals and a large cast of suspicious characters. These books all share that compelling 'can't put it down' quality with unpredictable storylines that keep you guessing until the very end. Happy reading, especially if you're looking for something spooky and thrilling this season!

Who doesn’t like real life spooky stuff!! True crime is one of my favorite genres. I’m always down to read about some bad dude and their crimes. Dark and twisty is my jam and I’m not afraid to show it. Fun fact, people have been fascinated by true crime even before the Jack the Ripper killings.
