ในชีวิตจริงผมเคยพบเห็นหลายกรณีที่คนที่ยึดเอาความฉลาดแกมโกงมาใช้ กลับต้องพบกับช่วงเวลาที่แสนโดดเดี่ยวในที่สุด แม้ว่าช่วงแรกอาจดูเหมือนได้เปรียบทางสังคมหรือการเงิน แต่พอเวลาผ่านไป ความสัมพันธ์ที่เคยแน่นแฟ้นหรือความไว้วางใจจากคนรอบข้างก็ถูกทำลายลงไปเรื่อย ๆ สิ่งที่น่าสนใจคือ การโดดเดี่ยวที่เกิดขึ้นนี้ไม่ได้เป็นเพียงการตัดขาดทางกายภาพเท่านั้น แต่ยังรวมถึงการสูญเสียความสงบสุขในใจ (Sovereignty) ซึ่งไม่สามารถทดแทนได้ด้วยจำนวนเงินหรือทรัพย์สินที่มีอยู่ เพราะเมื่อตัวตนแท้จริงถูกเปิดเผยโดยไม่มีหน้ากากทางสังคมรองรับ เส้นทางชีวิตจะเปลี่ยนไปอย่างสิ้นเชิง ผมเห็นได้ว่าพฤติกรรมเหล่านี้ทำให้คนต้องเข้าสู่ภาวะ "Total Isolation" หรือความโดดเดี่ยวอย่างสมบูรณ์แบบ เพราะผู้คนที่จริงใจและเคยเป็นกัลยาณมิตรจะคัดตัวออกจากวงสังคมอย่างรวดเร็ว เหมือนระบบภูมิคุ้มกันของสังคมถูกกระตุ้นขึ้นมาปกป้องตัวเอง ไม่เพียงเท่านั้น ยังนำไปสู่ "Total Absence" ที่หมายถึงความว่างเปล่าทางใจและการสูญเสียสุขภาพจิตต้องนั่งระแวงและหลงทางในกำแพงน้ำแข็งแห่งความกลัวและความไม่ไว้ใจ ซึ่งทำให้สุขแท้จริงในชีวิต "Rooted Happiness" ถูกทำลายหายไปตลอดกาล ประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวนี้จึงเตือนใจว่าความโลภและการเอาเปรียบเพื่อผลประโยชน์ชั่วคราวไม่เคยคุ้มค่าเมื่อแลกกับมิตรภาพ ความเชื่อใจ และความสงบภายในจิตใจที่แท้จริง การสร้างความสัมพันธ์ที่ดีและมีจริยธรรมจึงเป็นรากฐานสำคัญที่ช่วยป้องกันไม่ให้ใครต้องพังทลายและหลงทางในโลกที่เต็มไปด้วยการแข่งขันเช่นนี้ครับ
