Climbing Mount Kinabalu was one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. The mountain, standing at 4,095 meters, is the tallest peak in Southeast Asia and offers breathtaking views that make every step worth it. From preparation to summit, I learned a lot that I want to share with you. First, it's crucial to be physically prepared for the trek. The climb can be tough, especially the steep final stretch to the summit. Regular cardio and strength training helped me build the endurance needed. Also, packing the right gear made a huge difference—hiking poles, as I discovered, are essential not only to ease your knees but also to rest your backpack comfortably. This little tip greatly reduced fatigue during long hikes. The weather can be unpredictable; it’s wise to dress in layers and carry waterproof gear. Starting the climb early in the morning meant watching the sunrise from the peak, a surreal and peaceful moment that I'll never forget. One thing that stood out during the hike was the friendly local guides and fellow climbers who motivated me. Sharing stories and encouragement made the journey more enjoyable. Completing the climb gave me a strong sense of accomplishment and reminded me of the importance of pursuing my dreams actively. If you’re thinking about your own bucket list, I highly recommend adding Mount Kinabalu. Whether you're an experienced hiker or a beginner, the experience is accessible with the right preparation. I hope my story inspires you to take that first step and start ticking off your dreams, just like I’ve started to with my list of 101 side quests for my twenties.
