Two years ago, I decided I want to be an actor. Actually, I think I always wanted to be an actor, but I was shy growing up. It was a dream that tickled the back of my mind, that I never told anyone, because it scared me. I would muster up the courage to try out for musical shows in high school but never even made the chorus.

So I let it go, being a news reporter was more practical and I loved storytelling. After 10 long, grueling years of waking up at 3 AM reporting on atrocities that I am still trying to forget, I realized I want to tell stories, but about things I love – so I became a host, focusing on anime and video games – and I still very, very much love hosting.

But then, Michelle Yeoh won the 2023 Oscar for Everything Everywhere All at Once and said, “Ladies, don’t let anybody tell you you are ever past your prime. Never give up” – and it literally just clicked. I never really thought I could be an actor because I rarely saw anyone who looked like me on screen, let alone winning awards? But what was my excuse now?

I signed up for acting classes, started working with Epic Players LA, and have taken countless workshops. I joined SAG this year, got a commercial agent (that dropped me when I went SAG, lol), have worked a few vertical shorts and student projects. I am happy. I am really proud of myself.
