Summer braids
Hey everyone! I'm absolutely loving my current hair situation, and I just had to share! As you can see from my mirror selfie, I'm rocking some gorgeous long brown box braids, and I decided to go with those super chic curly ends this time – they add such a fun, playful touch, especially for summer. Box braids are truly my go-to protective style when the weather heats up because they are so low-maintenance and effortlessly stylish. It’s perfect for throwing on a striped crop top and jeans, adding some cute accessories, and feeling instantly put-together without much effort. One of the best things about box braids is how incredibly versatile they are when it comes to styling. You might think they're just 'straight up hairstyles,' but honestly, the possibilities are endless! I often pull mine back into a high ponytail for a sleek look, or gather them into a messy bun when I'm on the go. Half-up, half-down styles are also super cute, and you can even experiment with intricate updos for a more formal vibe. For those days when I want a quick change, I love twisting a few braids into a side swoop or adding some decorative hair cuffs. It really elevates the look and makes it feel fresh every time. Keeping my braids looking fresh during the summer is key. I make sure to moisturize my scalp regularly with a light oil to prevent dryness, and I always wrap my hair at night with a silk scarf or bonnet to keep frizz at bay and prolong the life of my style. A little dry shampoo can also be a lifesaver for refreshing my scalp between washes. While box braids are my current fave, there are so many other amazing braid styles out there perfect for any 'braids girl' looking for a new look. Twist braids, like Senegalese twists or Marley twists, are another fantastic protective option that offer a different texture and vibe. They're often lighter than box braids and can be styled in similar ways. And who can forget classic fishtail braids? While mine are box braids, I've seen some incredible styles where people incorporate fishtail techniques with dreads or extensions for a really unique look. Even doing two simple fishtail braids on your natural hair can give you such a charming, effortless aesthetic. Each style has its own charm and can totally transform your look. So, whether you're considering box braids, twist braids, or even trying out some 'straight up hairstyles' with your natural hair, I hope this gives you some inspiration! Braids are such a wonderful way to protect your hair, enjoy a break from daily styling, and still look absolutely fabulous. What's your favorite summer braid style?
