BOTCHED
So back in April I got my wisdom teeth removed & this is what happened.
I was 25 going on 26. I really had to get this appointment done before my 26th because I’d be off my parents insurance then & it would’ve been more expensive. I went to the dentistry where my younger sister works as a dental hygienist. I’ve been there before and never had a bad experience. But when I got my wisdom teeth removed it was a different story. I was put under IV sedation so I was completely knocked out of course. My sister was working with other patients but throughout the surgery she would pop in to check on me. She told me the doctor was grunting a lot and having a difficult time getting my teeth out. Apparently this is normal when removing wisdom teeth in your 20’s, it’s better to get them out when you’re younger. When I woke up I immediately touched my face and felt the scrape that you can see in the pictures. I was too out of it to say anything but assumed it was from the tool they used to expand my mouth. Later I found out they couldn’t remove one of my three wisdom teeth because it was so rooted that it would affect my sinuses if it was removed. When I told my sister about the scar she said that doctor is rough with all his patients & if any other doctor would have done the surgery that wouldn’t have happened. 😒 That would have been nice to know beforehand.
Besides that scar on my face (that’s still apparent today), I had loose gum flaps that eventually fused to my gums leaving an annoying bump along my gum line. I have what I like to call “reverse joker scars” on the inside of my cheeks, at least 3 inches long on both sides. The first 3 weeks after my surgery I couldn’t open my mouth more than an inch or two. & to this day I still can’t fully open my mouth & struggle eating things like sandwiches & tacos. 🥪 🌮
💰Price: over $1600 with insurance
*I got a $570 refund for the tooth they couldn’t remove a month later.
It was one of the worst & most painful experiences of my life. 😭
Do y’all have any wisdom tooth removal horror stories.?

Wisdom teeth removal can be a daunting procedure, often leading to unexpected complications. Many patients, especially those in their 20s, face challenges when undergoing this surgery. It's crucial to understand the potential risks involved, such as damage to the surrounding tissues or inadequate removal of deeply rooted teeth. Patients should also consider asking their dentist about their experience with wisdom tooth extractions and the sedation methods used. One of the key factors is pre-operative assessment. Dentists should evaluate whether removal is necessary and discuss all possible outcomes with patients prior to the surgery. This communication can help manage expectations and alleviate anxiety about the procedure. Patients are also encouraged to research their oral surgeon, focusing on reviews and testimonials from others who have undergone similar treatments. Post-operative care plays an essential role in recovery as well. Patients are advised to adhere to aftercare instructions given by their dentists to minimize complications, such as infections or prolonged pain. This includes following dietary recommendations, maintaining proper oral hygiene, and monitoring for any symptoms that might indicate problems. In the event of complications, seeking immediate follow-up care can help address issues before they escalate. Keeping an open dialogue with healthcare providers about any concerns can lead to better outcomes. For anyone considering wisdom teeth removal, being informed and proactive can significantly impact their surgical experience.
