FDOE ~ Fueling my body💪🏽

I used to eat to be aesthetic pleasing (thin, muscular, etc.) and that wasn’t always “healthy” but now I eat to fuel my body and be as healthy as I can be day to day and and I’m so much happier mentally and physically with my body😌 *I got my period back post birth control due to changing my habits*

@Gracie Norton podcast has really helped me along the way and she has great podcast guests on as well that are extremely knowledgeable.

... Read moreIt's incredible how much my relationship with food has changed, and honestly, it's been a game-changer for my overall well-being. When I started my journey of 'eating for fuel, not just taste,' I wasn't just looking to be thin or muscular; I was genuinely seeking a deeper connection with my body and a sense of sustained energy. The shift from restrictive eating to truly nourishing myself felt like unlocking a secret. One of the biggest lessons I learned is that 'fueling my body' isn't about bland, boring meals. It's about making choices that support my energy levels, mood, and even hormonal balance. For anyone struggling with similar issues, especially after stopping birth control or dealing with PCOS, focusing on nutrient-dense foods can make a profound difference. I found that incorporating healthy fats, complex carbs, and quality protein into every meal helped stabilize my blood sugar and support my endocrine system. So, what does 'eating for fuel' actually look like in practice? It's not a strict diet, but rather a mindful approach. For breakfast, instead of just a quick pastry, I'd often opt for something like scrambled egg whites with avocado and a dash of hot sauce, alongside a gluten-free waffle with almond butter and organic syrup. This combination keeps me full and energized for hours. Lunch might involve a vibrant salad packed with greens, lean protein, and a variety of colorful vegetables. Snacks used to be my downfall, but now I plan them to be mini-fuel-ups. Things like a CHOMPS beef stick and a cheese cube, or a refreshing green protein smoothie, are perfect for keeping hunger at bay and providing sustained energy without the sugar crash. I also love to prepare ingredients in advance like roasting tomatoes, onions, and garlic with Boursin cheese, red pepper flakes, and parsley to toss with some whole-grain farfalle pasta and lean protein like Andouille chicken sausage for a quick and satisfying dinner. Beyond the food itself, the mental aspect is huge. Learning to listen to my body's hunger cues and understanding what genuinely makes me feel good (rather than just what tastes good in the moment) has been transformative. It's about finding that balance where you enjoy your food without it dictating your energy or mood. I stopped labeling foods as 'good' or 'bad' and started asking: 'How will this food make me feel?' This simple question changed everything. If you're feeling stuck in a cycle of dieting or eating without purpose, I highly recommend exploring this concept. It's a journey, not a destination, and there will be days when you indulge. But the overall commitment to fueling your body with intention will lead to incredible mental clarity, physical strength, and a renewed sense of well-being. Don't be afraid to experiment with different foods and find what truly nourishes your unique body. It’s been so worth it for me!
