... Read moreOstara, or the Spring Equinox, is one of my favorite Sabbats because it truly feels like a fresh start! It's a magical time when day and night are perfectly balanced, reminding us of the harmony between light and dark. For me, it's about embracing new growth, shaking off winter's slumber, and setting intentions for the vibrant months ahead. I love celebrating with simple, meaningful traditions right in my home. One of the first things I do to truly welcome spring is to cleanse my space. It's not just about tidying up; it's about clearing out stagnant energy from the colder months. I find that using lemons for purification, cleansing, protection, and promoting clarity and focus is incredibly effective. I often make a simple lemon-infused water to spritz around my home or use lemon essential oil in my diffuser. It leaves everything feeling sparkling clean and energetically refreshed, ready for new beginnings. Ostara is also a powerful time to invite prosperity and abundance into your life. I like to prepare a special "abundance water." I'll add fresh herbs or crystals that resonate with growth, and dedicate this water for attracting abundance, prosperity, and success. Another beautiful tradition is using chamomile to attract abundance into the home. You can sprinkle dried chamomile around your doorways or brew a gentle tea, letting its subtle magic work. Sometimes I even bless plant seeds with this water before planting them, symbolizing the growth I wish to see in my life. As we open ourselves to new energies, it’s also important to consider protection, remembrance, clarity, and courage. I often incorporate blueberries for protection, healing, and connection to the natural world into my Ostara celebrations. Eating them, or even leaving a small offering, helps me feel grounded and safe. They remind me of the deep connection we have to the earth and its healing powers. With all the new energy swirling around, creating a sense of peace is crucial. I find lavender is perfect to attract peace into your home. Whether it’s fresh lavender in a vase, a lavender sachet under my pillow, or diffusing lavender essential oil, its calming scent instantly brings tranquility. It helps balance the vibrant, sometimes overwhelming, energy of new growth. My kitchen becomes a little sanctuary during Ostara. I love to prepare a special herbal infusion or even a simple soup, stirring my intentions into it. When I stir counter clockwise, I feel like I'm releasing old, unwanted energies, making space. Then, as I let her simmer, I focus on infusing my concoction with specific intentions—be it peace, abundance, or healing. Using seasonal ingredients and herbs helps connect me directly to the earth's rhythm. This can be a cleansing tea, a prosperity brew, or just a nourishing meal made with mindfulness. Beyond these specific practices, I also enjoy decorating Ostara eggs, symbolizing fertility and new life, and planting seeds, both literally in my garden and metaphorically for my goals. Spending time outdoors, observing the first signs of spring, and simply breathing in the fresh air are also vital parts of my celebration. It’s all about honoring the earth's reawakening and setting positive intentions for the year ahead. What are your favorite ways to celebrate this magical time?
