Once Human: This is my first survival game and so far I love this game. I love that this game isn't a grind. The building mechanics do need some improvement but for game that's been out for a month it's pretty good.
Mecha Break: I am currently in beta for this game and for a beta....this game is so refreshing. this game is basically the gundam series and I love it.
The First Descendants: I loved this game at first but I'm currently stuck at a boss I can't defeat. but the game is still great.
Fortnite: everyone knows fortnite. this season isn't my favorite but I still enjoy it with friends
Naraka Bladepoint: This is another fun battle royal. the main weapon is a sword instead of a gun which is really fun because you can just spam.
2XKO: This is an alpha that I was able to get into. it's a fighting game.
Overwatch 2: I didn't play OW1 so I don't have anything to compare it to but the queue times are unbelievable. I still like playing though
Valorant: This was my first FPS game on PC and to see where they went with the game is amazing and a little disappointing. I would still recommend this game though because it's a good place to start for a first person shooter.
Rainbow Six Siege: This is just a game I started playing. it's another shooter. the mechanics are a learning curve and its very overwhelming so I would recommend getting a friend or 4 to make it feel less overwhelming
... Read moreHey fellow gamers! You just saw my personal rundown of games I'm absolutely hooked on right now. But beyond those quick thoughts, I wanted to share a bit more about why these titles have captured my attention, and maybe give you some extra tips for finding your next gaming obsession or getting started with some of these fantastic experiences.
Let's talk about Once Human. As my first survival game, I was a bit hesitant, but it quickly won me over because it genuinely doesn't feel like a grind. The joy comes from exploring a massive world, building your base without constant resource anxiety, and uncovering secrets. If you're tired of survival games that demand endless repetitive tasks, this one's a breath of fresh air. It makes me think of the early days of discovering unique survival experiences, much like how games like Abiotic Factor are making waves in the genre now with their fresh take.
Getting into beta for Mecha Break or alpha for 2XKO (Riot's new fighting game!) has been super exciting. It’s a fantastic way to experience games before they fully launch and even shape their development. Mecha Break, for instance, delivers on that epic Gundam-style combat I've always craved – the movement and combat just feel so fluid. For those interested in getting early access to games, keep an eye on developer announcements and sign-ups. It's how I also got a peek at titles like Marvel Rivals, seeing how new competitive scenes are brewing.
When it comes to FPS, Valorant was my gateway to PC shooters, and it still holds a special place. For anyone looking to jump into competitive FPS, it's a solid starting point with clear mechanics. Rainbow Six Siege, on the other hand, is a whole different beast. The learning curve is steep, and it can feel overwhelming initially. My biggest tip? Grab a few friends! Communication and teamwork are key, and it makes those intense, tactical rounds so much more rewarding. It reminds me of the strategic depth you find in games like THE FINALS, where knowing your environment and working with your squad makes all the difference.
Being stuck on a boss in The First Descendants can be frustrating, I know the feeling! My go-to strategy usually involves checking out a quick guide, experimenting with different loadouts, or just taking a break and coming back with fresh eyes. Sometimes, stepping away to play something more casual, like a quick round of Fortnite with friends, or even a fun battle royale like Naraka Bladepoint where you can just 'spam' with a sword, helps clear the mind and makes the challenge feel less daunting. And for those nights you just want to relax, there's always the classic fun of Among Us or the thrill of Dead by Daylight with pals.
Ultimately, gaming is about finding what brings you joy. Whether it's the intense competition of Overwatch 2, the strategic depth of Rainbow Six Siege, or the pure escapism of a survival game like Once Human, there's a world (or several!) out there waiting. Don't be afraid to try new genres, explore betas, or revisit old favorites. Happy gaming!
