... Read moreI recently had the pleasure of stumbling upon The Reading Room in Decatur, GA, and I honestly can't stop thinking about it! If you're searching for a café that truly lives up to its name, this is it. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by its STUNNING interior. Imagine a beautifully curated space filled with cozy armchairs, rustic wooden tables, and shelves brimming with books – it feels like stepping into a sophisticated library combined with the warmth of your favorite neighborhood coffee shop. It's the perfect spot whether you're looking to dive into a good book, catch up with friends, or get some work done. The atmosphere is just so inviting and serene, a true escape from the everyday hustle.
Of course, a great café needs a great menu, and The Reading Room absolutely delivers. I was so impressed by their extensive offerings. For coffee lovers, they have everything from classic Espresso, Cappuccino, and Lattes to their unique signature drinks like 'The Sunrise' and 'The Hera.' I tried 'The Hera,' which was a delightful blend of espresso, baklava syrup, almond extract, and a hint of chocolate – truly unique and delicious! They also offer Cold Brew, Americano, and a selection of milk substitutes like oat and almond milk, which is always a plus.
Tea enthusiasts won't be disappointed either. They feature Rishi Loose Leaf Teas, including classic Earl Grey and Jasmine Green, along with soothing herbal options like Lavender Mint and Turmeric Ginger. I also spotted a London Fog and a vibrant Matcha Latte on the menu, perfect for any tea craving.
What really surprised me was their fantastic food selection. It's not just pastries (though their Choudak Chip Cookie looked amazing!). They have a full brunch menu available, featuring a shareable 'Brunch Board' with eggs, waffles, chicken sausage, and mini pastries, or a 'Granola Board' and 'Waffle Board' for lighter options. I was there for lunch, and their sandwich selection was impressive. I almost went for the 'Ham and Brie' on a toasted baguette, but the 'Pesto Panini' with fresh tomato, sundried tomato, balsamic, and mozzarella caught my eye – and it was absolutely delicious, served with chips and a pickle. They also have a 'Veggie' sandwich, 'Wild Mushroom,' and a 'Chicken Salad' croissant. And for soup lovers, their homemade 'Tomato Bisque' sounded divine, served with goat cheese and foccacia. You can even grab a tasty 'Goat Cheese/Spinach Quiche.'
Beyond the daily delights, I even saw signs for "FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE" events, featuring local artists like John Bobek and Erin Barnes. It's clear this isn't just a place for a quick coffee; it's a community hub. The Reading Room Decatur truly stands out as one of Atlanta's must-visit coffee shops, offering an exceptional experience, a diverse menu, and a wonderfully relaxing environment. You need to add this to your list!
