🎨pride

Saw this in a dream. From my notebook “i saw this vision of an art piece of these bright red lips in water with the tape pressed over the lips like silence or a struggle to speak. And the word pride came with the image. Like pride was keeping the person from speaking and they were drowning because of it.”

Sometimes the hardest thing to do for those tasked with responsibility is to ask for help. Whether its a lack of people they can trust or a fear of trusting out of being let down again, asking for help is a struggle for those used to be a team of one.

But no one is an island, and just as many tree roots support the tree so many hands are needed to support those in roles heavy with responsibility. May your egbe on earth support you as your egbe in heaven do. May you always have the capable people around you and may you never fear asking for the help you need.

It’s common for many people, especially those burdened with significant responsibilities, to feel isolated and reluctant to ask for help. This struggle often stems from past disappointments or the fear of appearing vulnerable. From personal experience, I’ve noticed that acknowledging our limitations and reaching out to others does not lessen our strength but rather enriches it. Support networks, much like the roots of a tree, anchor us in times of stress and challenge. Whether it’s trusted friends, family, or colleagues, having a reliable 'egbe'—a concept of community support both earthly and spiritual—can provide immense relief and empowerment. Learning to overcome the silent struggle of pride means practicing humility and recognizing that collaboration can lead to better outcomes. For creators, leaders, and caregivers, this realization is crucial. Instead of drowning under the weight of unspoken struggles, openly seeking help fosters resilience and growth. It’s a reminder that no one thrives in isolation and that true pride comes from the courage to be open and supported.
