When I first brought him home, he was a walking bundle of nerves.
I called him “Booger” because, honestly… he spooked at everything. Chickens. Donkeys. Wind. You name it.
He wasn’t a baby, either—this wasn’t about being green. It was fear, plain and simple.
But the more time I spent with him, the more I saw something different…
He wanted to be good. He wanted to get it right.
He wasn’t trying to be hard. He was just scared and didn’t know how to process the world around him.
So we took it slow. I stayed consistent. I showed up calm, even when he couldn’t.
And little by little, he started to trust.
He softened. He changed.
That high-headed, wide-eyed horse turned into the most grounded, chill, level-headed partner.
