Push through the fear
I remember it like yesterday actually…to anyone feeling the same way PRACTICE is what helped me to conquer my fear. Practicing a lot and recording myself helped me a lot. Being afraid is a natural thing when you are on stage being vulnerable. I’ve learned to turn my nerves into excitement. I jump up and down, I shake it out and I say “I got this” over and over again until I believe it damnit! 😂 best of luck! Hope this helps!

Remembering the first time you were terrified to play in front of people is a common experience shared by many performers. Stage fear is natural because stepping onto a stage exposes your vulnerability and puts you in the spotlight. The key to overcoming this fear lies in consistent practice and self-awareness. Recording yourself during rehearsals is a powerful method to identify areas for improvement and build confidence. Watching playback helps to desensitize you to your own presence and performance style, making the actual moment on stage less daunting. Additionally, transforming nervousness into excitement changes your mental approach—by reframing anxiety as positive energy, you essentially harness that adrenaline to enhance your delivery. Physical movement before going on stage can also be very helpful. Jumping up and down, shaking your body, or doing light exercise loosens tension and promotes circulation, reducing the feeling of being 'frozen' by nerves. Alongside this, positive affirmations such as saying "I got this" repeatedly not only boost confidence but also program your mind to adopt a winning attitude. Many performers find that embracing vulnerability rather than fearing it creates a genuine connection with the audience. Accepting fear as a normal part of the creative process allows you to move beyond it, focusing instead on the joy of sharing your art. For those embarking on a music journey or any performance craft, these techniques are practical tools to conquer fear gradually. Remember, every artist starts somewhere, and the more you confront your fears by practicing, recording, and affirming yourself, the less intimidating the stage will become. Good luck on your journey to conquering fear and finding your unique voice!
