Art Journal - Done!
And she's done!!
I used gold glitter/shimmer watercolor, which makes me so happy whenever I use it.😊 However, it was difficult getting pics that showed where the gold is. I'll try to get better photos tomorrow.
I used watercolor, watercolor markers, colored pencil, charcoal, pen and gel pen

Creating an art journal that truly shines can be a delightful challenge, especially when working with shimmering media like gold glitter watercolor. Many artists find that capturing the reflective quality of glitter in photos doesn’t always translate well, which is why experimenting with lighting and angles during photography is crucial. Natural light or a soft diffused light source often works best to highlight those subtle sparkles in your artwork. Using a combination of watercolor, watercolor markers, colored pencils, charcoal, pen, and gel pen, as this piece does, allows for a rich layering of textures and depth. Watercolor provides a soft, transparent base that can be intensified with markers for sharper details and colored pencils for extra vibrancy. Charcoal adds contrast and moodiness, while pens and gel pens can help finalize intricate outlines or highlights. For those looking to recreate or be inspired by this mixed media approach, it’s fun to mix and match materials to see how they interact. For example, layering gel pen highlights over watercolor can make certain features pop, while charcoal can create shadows that give your pages more dimensionality. Don’t be afraid to experiment with techniques such as dry brushing or blending with water to achieve unique effects. Art journal enthusiasts often tag their work with communities like #artmixedmedia, #artjourney, #art, and #artsketchbook to connect with others and gain fresh ideas. Sharing your process and challenges, such as capturing glitter shimmer in photos, can encourage a collaborative learning experience and help artists discover new ways to enhance their creations. Remember, the joy of art journaling comes from personal expression and exploration. Whether your final piece glows with glitter or tells a story through charcoal strokes, the journey of combining different media shapes a uniquely personal creative voice.
