New dip rep PR!!! YAYYYY
Baby weights for now but finally able to do dips with minimal pain on my sternum😌
This block has all been about volume so i’ve been doing lots of banded dips, supper happy to see that its been paying off.
Excited for the next block!!
Progressing in dips, especially when adding weight like 1.25kg, can be challenging, particularly when dealing with discomfort around the sternum area. From my experience, focusing on volume training with banded dips has been a game-changer. Banded dips help build strength while reducing joint stress, gradually conditioning the muscles and connective tissues to handle more load without pain. It's important to listen to your body and not rush the process. I started with baby weights and low reps, prioritizing form and controlled movement. Over time, increasing the number of sets and reps enhanced muscle endurance, which translated into better performance with weighted dips. Soreness or discomfort in the sternum can sometimes indicate technique issues or overloading too soon. Incorporating adequate rest and mobility exercises helped me recover faster and prevent injury. Also, warming up thoroughly before each session improved my shoulder and chest readiness. Consistency and patience are key. The payoff is rewarding, as I’ve seen a steady climb in my dip strength with less pain, making every session more enjoyable. For those struggling with similar challenges, consider adding banded dips to your routine, gradually introduce weighted dips, and focus on volume before intensity. This approach builds a reliable foundation for long-term progress in calisthenics and gym training.
