Voting as a College Student
This summer I voted for Primaries, which determines who else will be able to be on the ballot for the upcoming election. When I first came to college I didn’t know what I was doing, but I’m here to give you some tips if you find yourself in the same situation. Always remember to be a conscious voter, it’s easy to get caught up in the drama of politics and parties, but focus on who’s pushing the policies you want and who’s doing what’s best for your community. Go to events, make calls, and be an advocate for yourself. I am a youth member of the NAACP at my university’s chapter and we do a lot of voters registration events, meet and greets, and voters awareness/education events. Find somewhere or someone on your campus that is giving you access to do these same things and if you can’t find anyone, don’t be afraid to start something new on campus!!
