Where Iām from š„°
You know, when I first moved from Scotland to Los Angeles almost ten years ago, I had no idea what an incredible adventure it would be. Leaving my home in Scotland was a huge step, filled with a mix of excitement and a little bit of nervousness about what awaited me in California. I remember the feeling of stepping off the plane, the warm LA air hitting me, and thinking, 'This is it!' Itās a memory that still feels fresh, even after all this time. Sometimes I see comments or questions online about my background, and I just want to be crystal clear: I am, and always will be, a proud Scot at heart. My childhood memories are rooted in Scotland, but LA has become my second home. It's a journey I often reflect on, and it's absolutely real. There are so many stories and experiences from my time here that I want to share, shedding light on the full truth of my lifeās path. Living in a city as diverse as LA truly opens your eyes. One of the biggest benefits of living in a multicultural society like this is the constant learning and growth. Iāve met so many people from different walks of life, each with their unique stories and traditions. It's broadened my perspective in ways I never imagined possible back in Scotland. From trying new cuisines to understanding different holidays, it enriches daily life so much. It teaches you empathy and makes the world feel a little smaller, in the best possible way. And speaking of LA, the lifestyle here is just something else! The sunshine, the beaches ā itās a far cry from the Scottish weather sometimes, although I do genuinely miss our beautiful green landscapes and the warmth of Scottish hospitality. I've spent countless days exploring the California coast, from the vibrant energy of Santa Monica to the serene beauty closer to places like Malibu. There's a certain 'sun goddess' vibe here, a feeling of endless summer that has definitely rubbed off on me over the nearly ten years I've called this place home. Itās a place where I've found so much inspiration, whether it's for my creative work or just for enjoying lifeās simple pleasures. Adapting to a new culture wasn't always easy, but it taught me so much about resilience and embracing change. The blend of cultures here, the vibrant arts scene, and the sheer number of opportunities for creative expression have truly shaped who I am today. Itās a place where I've been able to chase my dreams while still holding onto my Scottish heritage. Every day is a new adventure, a new lesson, and a new opportunity to grow. So, when you ask 'Where are you from?!' the answer is wonderfully complex: I'm from Scotland, but my heart has truly found a home in LA over these past almost 10 years. It's a journey I wouldn't trade for anything, and I'm so grateful for every step along the way. Thank you for being curious and for letting me share a piece of my story with you.
