They're masters of these roads, and you can just sit back and soak in the scenery without the stress of parking, which is notoriously difficult and expensive in Positano and other popular spots. I personally opted for a mix of walking, local ferries, and an occasional taxi, which gave me the freedom to explore without car worries. Being one of the many Amalfi Coast tourists, I quickly learned that timing is everything. I visited in late spring, and while it was beautiful, the crowds were definitely present, especially in town centers and at popular viewpoints like the Spiaggia Grande. If you prefer a quieter experience, aim for the shoulder seasons (April-May or September-October). You'll still get lovely weather, but with fewer people jostling for that perfect photo op. To beat the midday rush, I found that waking up early for a stroll through the narrow alleys of Positano was pure magic. The town was still waking up, and I could wander through the boutiques and cafes in relative peace. Another fantastic way to escape the land-based crowds is to take a boat trip. Seeing the entire coastline from the water gives you a completely different perspective, and many tours include stops for swimming in secluded coves or visiting hidden grottoes. It’s an absolute must-do for any visitor. For those wondering "wo ist das" (where is that?), a visit here isn't just about the scenery; it's about immersing yourself in the Italian way of life. From sipping limoncello overlooking the sea to savoring fresh seafood pasta in a family-run trattoria, every moment feels like a dream. Don't forget to explore beyond the main beach; wander up the countless steps to discover charming residential areas, tiny churches, and local artisan shops. The vibrant atmosphere, the scent of jasmine, and the sound of waves crashing below create an unforgettable sensory experience.
