It’s a familiar feeling to many social media users to see a decent number of views on their posts but very few or no likes. This can sometimes be confusing and disheartening, especially when you’ve put effort into the content, such as sharing photos credited to someone else like froggy crown. From my experience, this often happens because people might appreciate the content passively without feeling compelled to interact. In some cases, the audience just scrolls through their feed quickly and views without taking time to engage. Another reason might be the nature of the content itself. If it’s a subtle or niche type that doesn’t spark strong emotions or calls to action, it may get views but not many likes. I’ve also noticed that posts asking viewers explicitly to comment or like, as in "please comment or like on one of my posts," can sometimes help increase engagement, but only if the audience feels genuinely connected or interested. Otherwise, these calls to action can be overlooked. Looking at the comments or hashtags that seem cryptic or casual, like "4/10 Lemons MUT" or "10/10 HahD me after crashing out LIT," it’s clear the audience might be engaging in a more private or coded way, which could explain the lack of visible likes. This shows that engagement isn’t always visible as likes—it can be indirect or non-traditional. To improve chances of getting likes, it helps to post content that invites interaction naturally—such as questions, polls, or relatable stories. Also, interacting with your viewers by replying to comments encourages a community feel, which often leads to more visible engagement like likes and shares. Ultimately, it’s important to remember that likes are just one measure of engagement. Views show that your content is being seen, which in itself is valuable. Keep creating authentic content, engage sincerely with your audience, and gradually you’ll see more interactive responses come your way.
