Yesterday, my best friend @Jazzmin Boyd | Philly Doula was at Bryn Mawr Hospital supporting her client as a doula and midwife assistant. By the early morning of the 26th, she helped welcome a beautiful Black baby into this world. 💙
This is powerful work. Black women in the U.S. are 3–4 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women, and Black babies are twice as likely to die before their first birthday. These outcomes are tied to systemic racism and lack of advocacy in healthcare.
That’s why Black doulas and midwives are essential — they advocate, protect, and empower mothers during the most vulnerable and sacred moments.
