“MICHAEL” the movie was not good sadly 😱🤦🏾♀️
As a fan of Michael Jackson, and on top of the way the movie was marketed, I assumed this was going to be a biopic about his life; from start to finish. When I saw that it wasn’t I was very disappointed 🤦🏾♀️
On the good side, Jaafar Jackson his nephew did an AMAZING job portraying him! His mannerisms were perfect, his voice matched perfectly and THE DANCE MOVES WERE IMMACULATE ✨✨✨✨✨✨Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson was also beyond great! I wasn’t too fond of Nia Long as Catherine but she did okay.
All in all go see the film, MICHAEL premieres April 24th in theaters. Let me know what you think and if your opinion differs from mines!
As a Michael Jackson fan, I was really excited to see "MICHAEL" in theaters after hearing the marketing promised a full biopic. Going into the movie, my expectations were high, hoping for a comprehensive look at his fascinating life and career. However, the film instead felt more like a part one, with a lot left untold, which some fans might find frustrating. What truly saved the film for me was Jaafar Jackson’s portrayal of Michael. His attention to detail—nailing the singer’s mannerisms, voice, and especially those iconic dance moves—was truly impressive. It felt like a heartfelt tribute from within the family, made even more special knowing that the nephew could channel the essence of the King of Pop so authentically. Colman Domingo's role as Joe Jackson was also a highlight, delivering a complex depiction of Michael’s father with strong emotional depth. The choreography throughout the film was impeccable, reminiscent of Michael’s signature style and energy. Watching the dances performed live on screen really reminded me why Michael’s performances were legendary. The film also shed some light on his creative process—showing his involvement in composing and producing music—giving us insight into the artist behind the superstar. Although some casting choices, like Nia Long as Catherine Jackson, didn’t resonate as strongly, the overall experience included moments that truly celebrated Michael’s impact on music and culture. Despite its shortcomings in storytelling and pacing, "MICHAEL" offers fans a visually stunning and musically rich experience. I attended an interactive screening where the audience was fully engaged and even asked to surrender phones to keep the focus immersive. The vibe was energetic and respectful, showing how much people care about Michael Jackson’s legacy. For anyone wanting a deep dive into Michael’s life, just be aware the story is unfinished and likely to continue in a second part. If you love Michael’s artistry and dance, this movie is worth seeing for those electrifying performances alone. I’d love to hear what others think—how did this portrayal match your expectations?
