Hal sepele tapi gak semua suami 🇺🇸 bisa 🇺🇸🇮🇩🔥#cemilan #latepost #suamibule #holiday #summer #summerbreak #travel #placetogo #durian #bule #bulemakandurian
Living in an intercultural marriage definitely comes with its own set of unique joys and challenges. One of the most common topics that comes up is food – especially when you're introducing your foreign partner to local delicacies. Sometimes, it’s the sepele (trivial) things that end up creating the most memorable moments and showing how much your suami (husband) truly embraces your culture. Take durian, for example. For many of us, it's a beloved treat, a taste of home. But for someone not used to its strong aroma and unique texture, it can be quite an experience! I've seen many foreign husbands try to be polite, but deep down, you can tell they're struggling. That's why when my American husband not only tried it but genuinely enjoyed it, I felt incredibly proud. It’s those moments when you realize, wow, not everyone bisa (can) do this, but he did! Beyond just food, there are so many other sepele things that can be a big deal. It could be navigating public transportation, understanding local customs like greeting elders, or even just adapting to the different pace of life. My suami has had his share of hilarious attempts at speaking Indonesian, which sometimes sound a bit off, but his willingness to try makes all the difference. It shows respect and a genuine desire to connect with my roots and family. It’s not always easy, of course. There are times when cultural differences lead to misunderstandings or funny situations. But what makes it special is the effort we both put in. When my suami goes out of his way to understand a tradition, or tries a new activity that's common in my country, it strengthens our bond. These small acts of embracing each other's worlds turn into cherished memories and show a deep level of love and commitment. So, if you're in an intercultural relationship, cherish those moments when your partner steps out of their comfort zone. Whether it's trying a pungent fruit, learning a new phrase, or adapting to a different lifestyle, these are the beautiful, sometimes sepele, but always significant, ways they show their love. Not every suami bisa do it all, but the effort and openness are what truly count.
