From personal daily experience, the challenges can be exhausting — sleepless nights, constant caregiving, and balancing household responsibilities can feel overwhelming at times. However, the small moments of connection, like a child’s tiny hug, spontaneous laughter, or a shared milestone, bring unmatched joy and fulfillment. Living abroad adds another layer of complexity to motherhood. Adapting to a new culture and environment while raising children can sometimes amplify feelings of isolation and fatigue. Yet, these experiences also provide unique opportunities for growth and connection with diverse communities, as well as personal resilience. Mothers who manage these challenges, especially Indonesian moms living outside their homeland, often find strength and solidarity through support networks and sharing their stories. These bonds help mitigate the absence of traditional support systems and reinforce that despite the non-stop demands, motherhood’s rewards extend far beyond what can be measured financially. In essence, motherhood is demanding, unpaid, and round-the-clock work — but filled with love and gratitude that renew energy and purpose every day.
