Summer freedom is almost over… 🥹☀️
Sebentar lagi mereka kembali ke sekolah.
No more sleeping in.
No more lazy mornings.
No more “What are we doing today, Mom?” every five minutes. 😂
As the long summer days come to an end and the back-to-school season approaches, it’s natural to feel a mix of emotions. The freedom of summer—those leisurely mornings, spontaneous outings, and relaxed schedules—is about to be replaced by structured school days and early wake-up times. From my own experience, preparing ahead can make this transition smoother for both kids and parents. One thing I found helpful was starting to shift bedtime routines a week or two before school starts. Gradually waking them up earlier and sticking to a consistent bedtime helped their bodies adjust to the new schedule without as much resistance. Additionally, involving kids in planning their school outfits and lunches the night before reduces morning chaos and lets them feel more in control. Another challenge is managing the never-ending questions like, “What are we doing today?” during summer. While these might feel exhausting, encouraging kids to plan some of their own activities can boost their independence and creativity. Now, as the routine tightens, setting clear after-school activities or homework times with breaks can keep children engaged and less distracted. Lastly, embracing the bittersweet feeling of summer ending is important. Reflecting with your kids on their favorite summer memories can create warmth and excitement to carry into the school year. With a thoughtful approach and a little preparation, the shift from summer freedom to school life can be less stressful and more positive for everyone involved.
