Jauh dari Indonesia, tapi nggak pernah jauh dari Indonesia.

Living far from Indonesia does not mean one has to lose touch with their culture and heritage. From personal experience, even when living in America, I find ways to stay deeply connected with Indonesia through community events, Indonesian cuisine, language practice, and online forums dedicated to those living abroad like #tinggaldiluarnegeri and #IndonesianInAmerica. Balancing life between two cultures can be enriching yet challenging, especially in a mixed marriage where understanding both cultural backgrounds fosters stronger family bonds. Celebrations such as Indonesian Independence Day or traditional festivals provide comforting reminders of home and a chance to gather with fellow Indonesians. Technology plays a crucial role in bridging the distance. Social media groups and video calls help maintain close ties with family and friends back home. Listening to Indonesian music, cooking traditional dishes, and speaking the language regularly also reinforce a strong sense of identity. Ultimately, being 'jauh dari Indonesia, tapi nggak pernah jauh dari Indonesia' reflects a profound emotional connection that many in the diaspora cherish. Embracing this dual lifestyle brings unique opportunities for cultural growth while honoring one’s origins.
