"For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, " that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, " so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 1 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

... Read moreHey everyone! I wanted to share a deeper dive into a verse that truly resonates with me and often comes up in my personal reflection time, especially when I’m curled up with a warm cup of tea. While my main post mentioned Ephesians 3, I've had a lot of thoughts recently about Ephesians 4:12, which is also visible in my Bible image and is such a powerful guide for our spiritual journey.
This verse talks about "the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ." When I first read it, "ministry" sounded like something only pastors or missionaries did. But as I've grown in my faith, I've realized it's so much more personal and applies to every single one of us!
For me, "equipping of the saints" means God provides us with everything we need to live out His purpose. It's like preparing for a journey – you gather your tools, your map, your provisions. In our spiritual lives, these tools are often found in scripture, in prayer, and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I remember seeing a sticky note that said, "Doodles even when things are hard do not forget GOD! He is our savour & He is our Super Power!" That really stuck with me. It reminds me that even when life throws its toughest challenges, God is actively equipping us, giving us the strength we need. It's not about being perfect, but about being willing to learn and grow, knowing that He's our ultimate Super Power.
Then there's "the work of ministry." This isn't just about formal roles; it’s about how we serve God and others in our everyday lives. It could be as simple as offering a listening ear to a friend, volunteering in your community, or speaking words of encouragement. For me, sharing my devotionals, like this one, feels like a small act of ministry. It's using the gifts God has given me to hopefully bring a little light to someone else's day. Another sticky note I saw really captured this: "Trust in our lord. Give him your burdens & he will give you strength." When we trust Him with our burdens, He empowers us to do His work, not out of our own limited strength, but through His abundant power.
Finally, "for the edifying of the body of Christ." This part emphasizes community and unity. We're not meant to walk this path alone. We're all part of God's family, and our actions, big or small, contribute to building each other up. When I feel strengthened by God's word, I feel a desire to share that strength, to encourage others in their faith. It’s about mutual support, compassion, and love, making sure that every member feels valued and uplifted. Just like how a warm cup of lavender chamomile tea with lemon, ginger, and honey brings comfort and warmth, being part of a supportive spiritual community brings warmth and comfort to our souls.
So, for me, Ephesians 4:12 is a beautiful reminder that we are called, equipped, and empowered to contribute to something far greater than ourselves. It inspires me to actively seek ways to grow in my faith, serve others, and build up the community around me, always remembering that God is our strength and our saviour, especially when things are hard. What does this verse mean to you? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
