Bleaching my brows ✨
Okay so this was my first time bleaching my brows and I definitely treated it like the hair on my head!
So here are some steps for a successful bleach!
Step 1: Please use 10 or 20 vol developer 🫠
Step 2: For even distribution make sure to acquire spoolies 😅
Step 3: ALWAYS rinse with cold or lukewarm water
🌟Skincare Tips: Cover surrounding skin in Vaseline or a sealant to prevent irritation and staining! 😌

Okay, so getting into the world of bleached brows can feel a bit daunting, especially for your first time! After my own experience bleaching my brows, I really want to share a bit more detail on what I learned to make sure your journey is as smooth as possible. It's truly a 'slice of life' moment when you look in the mirror after! First off, let's talk about preparation. Before you even think about mixing anything, please, please do a patch test! Apply a tiny bit of the mixed bleach to a small, inconspicuous area of skin (like behind your ear or on your inner arm) 24-48 hours beforehand. This helps check for any allergic reactions. Also, make sure your brows are clean and dry, free of any makeup or oils. This helps the bleach work evenly. Gathering all your tools – the developer, bleach powder, spoolies, a small mixing dish, Vaseline, cotton swabs, and a timer – before you start will save you a lot of stress. Regarding the developer volume, the article quickly mentioned 10 or 20 vol. But why these? When thinking about bleaching with 10 volume, it's generally the gentler option, ideal for those with finer brow hairs or if you're aiming for a very subtle lift in color. 20 volume is stronger and works faster, better for darker, coarser brow hairs, or if you want a more dramatic lightening effect. I really wouldn't recommend going higher than 20 vol for your eyebrows, as the skin around your eyes is super delicate, and you want to minimize any potential irritation or damage. It's always better to go slowly and do a second, shorter application if needed, rather than over-bleaching. Now, the big question for many: how long to leave bleach on eyebrows, especially for light brown or even darker shades? This is where patience and close monitoring come in. There's no one-size-fits-all answer, as it depends on your natural brow color, hair thickness, and the developer strength. For light brown brows, you might only need 2-5 minutes with 10 volume developer to achieve a soft, subtle lift. For darker brows or a more pronounced bleached look, you might go up to 5-10 minutes with 20 volume. My personal tip? Start checking after 2-3 minutes. Use a damp cotton swab or a clean spoolie to gently wipe away a tiny section of bleach from the inner part of your brow to see the color. If it’s not light enough, reapply and check again every minute or so. Remember, it will look a tiny bit lighter when wet and freshly bleached, but it will settle. You want to avoid leaving it on for more than 10-15 minutes MAXIMUM, even for very dark brows, to prevent damage and an undesirable yellow tone. Once you've reached your desired lightness, rinsing is crucial. As mentioned, cold or lukewarm water helps to stop the chemical process and soothe the skin. Make sure to thoroughly rinse every speck of bleach from your brows and the surrounding area. I like to use a gentle cleanser afterward, just to be sure. Follow up with a good hydrating moisturizer or a soothing, fragrance-free oil around your brow area to calm any redness or dryness. Some people even use a toner or purple shampoo very sparingly for a few seconds if their brows turn too yellow, but be incredibly careful with this step! After my own bleaching my brows adventure, I realized it's all about listening to your brows and not rushing the process. If they turn out a bit lighter than you wanted, don't panic! You can always fill them in with a brow pencil or gel that matches your desired shade. And if they're too yellow, a very diluted purple shampoo or conditioner for just a few seconds can help neutralize it, but again, proceed with extreme caution. The key is beautiful, healthy brows, so take your time and enjoy the transformation!
