Bonnie was field day ready ! 😂❤️❤️
Oh my goodness, getting ready for a big 'field day' with my furry best friend, Bonnie, is always an adventure! It's not just about showing up; it's about making sure she's absolutely prepared for all the fun and games. Being a dog mom means I'm always thinking ahead, especially when it comes to keeping her happy and healthy during exciting events. First things first, energy! For an active day like this, I make sure Bonnie has a really nutritious breakfast. I often mix in some lean protein, like cooked chicken or turkey, with her regular kibble, and maybe a spoonful of pumpkin for digestion. Hydration is also super important, so I pack plenty of water and a travel bowl. It’s surprising how quickly they can get thirsty when they’re running around like crazy! Then there’s the gear. I love dressing Bonnie up for occasions, and for a field day, comfort and safety are key. She has this adorable little vest that sometimes says 'PATROL' on it – not just for looks, but it actually helps me spot her easily in a crowd of playful pups! I also make sure her leash and harness are secure and comfortable, so she can explore safely without any chafing. And of course, a good ball or frisbee is essential for those impromptu fetch sessions. What kind of activities do we do on a dog field day? Oh, everything! From simple 'follow the leader' games to more elaborate obstacle courses designed for dogs. Bonnie absolutely thrives on mental stimulation as much as physical exercise. We practice 'stay' and 'come' commands amidst distractions, which is a great way to reinforce her training in a fun environment. Sometimes, there are even 'doggie pools' for them to splash around in, which is a huge hit, especially on warmer days. For treats throughout the day, I stick to high-value, easy-to-digest options. Small pieces of cheese, carrot sticks, or even homemade dog biscuits are perfect. I try to avoid anything too rich that might upset her stomach, especially if she's going to be very active. It’s all about balance – enough treats to motivate her, but not so many that she's too full to play. After all the excitement, winding down is just as important. We usually have a nice, calm walk to cool down, and then it’s straight to her cozy bed for a well-deserved nap. I also make sure she gets a good, restorative meal in the evening, sometimes adding a little extra joint supplement if she's had a particularly strenuous day. Seeing her happy, tired, and content after a day of fun makes all the planning worth it. This 'dog mom life' truly is the best!
